São Luís City – Brazil

Declared World Heritage Monument by UNESCO, São Luís is known as “The Tiles City”, because most buildings in the historical centre are covered with tiles.

Founded by the French in 1612, São Luís was later occupied by the Dutch and finally reclaimed by the Portuguese, making the city a mixture of French, Dutch and Portuguese cultures.

Located 2 degrees south of the equator, São Luís is an island surrounded by beautiful beaches, hills, cliffs, and a wide variety of ecosystems.

Due to wind and one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, the wave can reach 8 meters in 12 hours. All the beaches are ideal for water-skiing, ball sports, and many others activities. With its exuberant blend of geography and extremely rich history, São Luís is well worth a visit.
