[/gn_spoiler]Day 1 – SALVADOR / LENÇÓIS
Welcome to Lençóis!
Reception at the airport. Transfer to the Pousada (type of hotel in Portuguese).
After lunch we will walk around the city, where you will have the opportunity to know a little bit of the history, architecture and trivia of this nice city, famous for the diamond mining in the 19th century.
Overnight in Lençóis
Day 2 – From MORRO DO PAI INÁCIO to CAPÃO VALLEY
Departure 8:30. We will drive you until the Pai Inacio Hill then and a short walk to its summit to enjoy the view of the valley with its surrounded mountains and the Three Brothers hill. The trail starts in a flat area, with incredible views of Pai Inacio Hill, Camel Hill and the Mountains of Mucugezinho and Crystals. Arriving at Morrao, we will stop for lunch and free time for swimming in the natural pools of Aguas Claras. The trail ends at Capao Valley, where we will take the car back to the village.
Overnight at Valley do Capao.
Car: 30 minutes in the morning, and 20 minutes at the end of the hike.
Hiking: 14 Km. Good trail, fairly level most of the way, with some low hills and small river crossings.
Swimming: At the pools at Aguas Claras
Day 3 – FUMAÇA WATERFALL
A day to see the highest waterfall in Brazil, the Smokey Falls (400 meters high), we leave by car in the morning towards the Capao Valley, where we will start a 6 km hike (2 Km uphill hike, followed by 4 Km on plain area) to the top of the waterfall. Along the way, you will pass by dazzling views of the region with its mountains and canyons. We will stop for lunch before we return by the same way back to the car.
Overnight Vale do Capao
Hike: 12 km total (6 Km each way); including 2 Km of good uphill, followed by 4 Km of rolling plains.
Swimming: Optional at the Riachinho waterfall after the hike, a small but deep pool (with slippery rocks).
1,200 m on the top of Fumaça waterfall (bring a hat, water, and sun-screen)
Day 4 –From CAPÃO VALLEY TO PATI
Departure at 9:00 am and transfer to the “Bomba”, where we will start the trail hiking until the Gerais Vieira, where you will have an incredible view of the Capao Valley. On the second part of the trail we will cross the Gerais do Vieira and the Black River, two large flat areas of 14 km. Stop for lunch at the belvedere, enjoying the view of Serra Lapinha and Patti Hill.
Overnight at natives house – Mister Wilson
Car: 8 Km of dirt roads in the morning to the end of Capão Valley
Trekking: 22 Km. After a good uphill stretch, most of the walk is over fairly level ground. There is a very steep downhill near the end of the hike with loose rocks. The altitudes during the trip range from 1000m to 1500m above sea level. The weather is difficult to predict, so you should be ready for either hot sunny days, or windy and rainy weather.
Day 5 – FUNIS WATERFALL AND CASTLE CAVE
After breakfast, trail at the Funis Riverbanks, passing by incredible waterfalls, until the Funis waterfall, where we will stop for swimming and lunch, followed by a hike at the Serra Lapinha to visit the Castle Cave, a huge cave located at the top of the hill, which you can pass through and see the other side of the valley. Finishing the tour after this trail.
Overnight at natives house – Miss Leia or Rachel.
Trekking: 12 Km. The first part (6 Km) follows the Funis river. There are slippery rocks and you’ll have to cross the river a few times. Depending on the time of the year, you may get your feet wet.
The second part of the trail goes straight up to the top of the Serra da Lapinha. You’ll need to climb up using your hands in a few places. In general, it takes about an hour and a half to reach the cave. In case of strong rains, the Castle Cave walk must be avoided due to difficulties in negotiating the mud on the way down.
Cave: Short (300 m) and wide. Flashlights are necessary.
Day 6 – CACHOEIRÃO WATERFALL
After breakfast, hike to the top of Cachoeirão (big fall), one of the biggest attractions of Patti, an impressive waterfall of 300 meters with several little waterfalls, almost 20, in the rainy season. Stop for lunch and free time for swimming.
Overnight at natives house.
Hike: 18 Km. Less technical walking than the day before, the trek starts with a short uphill, but stays flat most of the time until the Cachoeirão canyon. The group can enjoy the view from the top and get close to the edge (wearing a safety harness).
Swimming: There’s a nice pool just before the waterfall, which is also a great place for lunch. (The pool can dry up during long dry periods, however).
Day 7 – FROM PATI VALLEY TO THE VILLAGE OF GUINE
Departure at 8:00 am and transfer to the “Bomba”, where we will start the trail hiking until the Gerais Vieira, where you will have an incredible view of the Capao Valley. On the second part of the trail we will cross the Gerais do Vieira and the Black River, two large flat areas of 14 km. On the last stretch of the trail, we descend the Beco Hill, arriving at Guine for a view of the sunset at the Esbarrancado Hill. Shuttle to Lençóis.
Overnight in Lençóis.
Hike: 15 Km. There’s a steep uphill at the beginning (the reverse of the steep downhill on the second day), but most of the trek (12 Km) is generally flat. There’s a river to cross before lunch and you might want to take off your shoes. The last section is a 30 minute downhill, with good rock steps.
Swimming: At the Rio Preto River.
Car: 90 km total; including 40 Km of dirt roads and 50 Km of highways
