 Day 1 – SALVADOR / LENÇÓIS

Reception at the airport. Transfer to the Pousada (type of hotel in Portuguese).

After lunch we will walk around the city, where you will have the opportunity to know a little bit of the history, architecture and trivia of this nice city, famous for diamond mining in the 19th century. We will also visit the mining museum, where Mister Cori, an old and well-known former miner in the region, will show you the techniques and history of the gold mining era.

Overnight in Lençóis

Day 2 – THE LAPA DOCE CAVE, PRATINHA AND THE MORRO DO PAI INÁCIO

This is the day you see the famous caves of Iraquara, known in the region as the city of caves.

In the morning we follow towards the Grotto of Lapa Doce. With a local guide, we will visit the beautiful formations of stalactites, stalagmites, speleothems and the columns inside. After this activities, stop for lunch (typical food) before going to the Pratinha River, ideal for swimming in the clear waters and we visit the Blue Grotto. The site offers optional tours such as: floating inside the cave and zip lining.

In the afternoon, we go to the Pai Inácio Hill (20 minute hike), where we will admire one of the most famous views of Chapada Diamantina.

Overnight in Lençóis.

Car: 150 Km total, including 22 Km (reasonable dirt road conditions) + 128 (good highway conditions). The longest car ride between stops: 50 minutes

Hiking: Total of 4 Km with easy trails and short up-hills.

Cave: 1 Km long (15m high)

Swimming: At the Pratinha River

Optional at Pratinha: snorkeling and zip lining

Day 3 – THE FUMAÇA WATERFALL

A day to see the highest waterfall in Brazil, the Smokey Falls (400 meters high), we leave by car in the morning towards the Capao Valley, where we will start a 6 km hike (2km uphill and 4 km on flat land) to the top of the waterfall. Along the way, you will pass by dazzling views of the region with its mountains and canyons. We will stop for lunch before we return by the same way back to the car. Before returning to Lençóis, we will visit the Riachinho waterfall for swimming.

Overnight in Capao

Car: 75 Km total, including 20 Km of dirt roads + 45 km of highway =65. A total car trip of about 1.5 hours.

Hike: 12 km Total (6 Km each way). 2 Km of good uphill, followed by 4 Km of rolling plains

Swimming: At the Riachinho waterfall after the hike, a small but deep pool (with slippery rocks)

1,200 m altitude on the top of Fumaça waterfall (bring a hat, water, and sun-screen)

 Day 4 – THE CAPÃO – GUINÉ TRAIL

The trail, from Valley Capao to the Guine village, is the most breathtaking and stunning trail in Chapada Diamantina.
 Departure 8:30. This trail passes by General Vieira and Black River, with a beautiful view of Pati Valley and its mountains. Stop for lunch at the belvedere and bathing at Black River, before heading to Guinea. From Guinea we will head to Mucuge by car, arriving around 18:30.

Overnight in Mucuge.

Car: 8 Km of dirt roads in the morning from the hotel to the trail. At the end of the hike there are 45 Km of dirt roads until Mucugê.

Hike: 18 Km – after a good uphill stretch, most of the walk is over plain areas surrounded by table shaped mountains and steep hills. The altitudes range from 1000m to 1500m above sea level. The weather is difficult to predict, so you should be ready for either hot sunny days, or windy and rainy weather.

Swimming: in the Black River

Day 5 – THE BURACÃO WATERFALL

This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Chapada Diamantina, the Buracão waterfall. Departure at 8:00In in direction to Ibicoara, we will pass by dirt road until the beginning of the trail.

The trail starts at the Rio Espalhado banks, passing by the beautiful Orchids waterfall on the way to the colorful canyon that gives access to Buracão. One of the most beautiful places of the tour, where you will see an impressive 100 meter fall, that can be reached by swimming in between the canyons.

After bathing and photographs, we will hike to the top of the waterfall, where you will enjoy your lunch before returning back to the car.

Overnight in Mucuge

Car: Total trip by car = 220 Km. 120 Km with good road conditions, 40 Km with semi-good road conditions, and 60 Km of dirt roads.

Hike: 6 Km total (3 Km each way). Most of the trail is flat, but there are two short climbs fitted with ladders and ropes to make them more comfortable for visitors. The last section (to see the waterfall from the bottom) involves swimming upstream, or carefully walking (slippery rocks!) along the canyon walls.

Swimming: at the Buracão Waterfall pool. A life jacket (provided) is necessary.

Day 6 – 3 BARRAS WATERFALL

The tour begins between the Andarai municipality and Mucuge, followed by a trail from Piaba River until the Three Barras Waterfall on a path filled with plants, refreshing baths and incredible landscapes still little visited. Stop for swimming and lunch.
Depending on the group, we can continue the trek up to the Crystals waterfall or just head back to the Igatu village.

Overnight in Igatu

Car: 20 minutes

Hike: total 6 Km

Day 7 – THE IGATU VILLAGE, POÇO ENCANTADO (ENCHANTED WELL) AND POÇO AZUL (BLUE POOL)

The Igatu village is known for its special architecture made with blocks of rock, which is very abundant in the region, and due to the diamond mining. We will visit the art gallery of Igatu and the ruins of the ancient city. After that, we will go to the Enchanted Well, recently reopened to visitation, a huge natural pool with turquoise water inside a limestone cave, considered one of the most impressive attractions in the region. Where, through a gap, a ray of sun crosses the cave to the bottom of the pit, at 60 meters in depth.

Then we go to the Blue Well, where we will float inside the cave, followed by a well-deserved lunch of typical food.

Overnight in Lençóis.

Car: 180 Km total

Swimming: Snorkeling in the Poço Azul pool

Day 8 – LENÇÓIS / SALVADOR

Transfer to the Lençóis airport / or Bus Station
